Hey there, and welcome to my site!
My name's Doug Tyrrell, and I'm a Canadian-born programmer, 3d artist, and web developer currently located in El Paso, Texas. "Doug Ty" is the online alias I've been using for myself lately. It's a lot easier just to say "to to dougty.com!" rather than "go to dougtyrrell.com" and have to spell it out, emphasizing that there are in fact two R's and two L's. Plus "Doug Ty" makes me sound like a secret agent or a movie star or something, which is always a good thing.
I've been interested in game development and animation ever since I was a kid. Growing up, I taught myself how to program and have been doing game modding and the occasional freelance PHP work ever since. Come time to select a major for university, I realized that while I could program for games, I couldn't really do any part of the art side of them. Now I'm studying 3D animation and enjoying every bit of it. Proficient at both programming and 3d art, I'm now well on my way to becoming a technical artist in the foreseeable future.
Take a look at my portfolio for a list of things I've been up to the past couple years. Although made for own necessity, I've released a few of my PHP and MEL scripts for free to download and use. I hope you can find them useful too. There's also a couple short films I've done up for viewing, as well as a gallery of some 2d and 3d art that I've done--mostly 3d though. Under 'projects' are a few of the things I've worked on either collaborating with others or that are really big and elaborate. Or both! Last but not least are my tutorials, which will continue to grow in numbers. Feel free to send me requests to do tutorials for certain things, I'd be happy to take a crack at it.

Note: I'll probably reply from a completely different GMail address due to Google's spam filters being way better than my own--so I forward all my email there. If you send me something, keep an eye out for my name in your junk folder just in case!
